🔸 IoT Central – Organizations are now available!

Organizations in IoT Central are the new, easy way to extend solutions while maintaining flexible access control.

Organizations help:

  • scaling IoT solutions from one customer to many, in just minutes
  • scaling IoT solutions beyond a single tenant, simply and securely
  • control and manage access to devices, users, and experiences, in an interface as familiar as folder management

Related to IoT Azure news:

🔸 A regular Azure API Management service update was started on October 25, 2021, and included the following new features, bug fixes, and other improvements.

Featured:

  • Native support for WebSocket APIs
  • API Management and Event Grid Integration

New:

  • You can import Azure Container App as an API in API Management.
  • API Management supports managed identity authentication for communication with Application Insights.
  • Support for the multidimensional Request metric in Azure Monitor is now generally available.

🔸 We have public preview capabilities for Azure Machine Learning, for November 2021.

You can now:

  • improve your productivity with integrated test datasets support
  • test metrics stored in an Azure Machine Learning workspace
  • improve upon your workflow of manual test metrics calculation in a Python notebook and manual metrics stored in any information repository
  • let the public users use the data in storage behind the virtual network without configuring the private link enabled workspace

🔸 We have also, general availability capabilities for Azure Machine Learning.

This new Azure Machine Learning capability provides users with prebuilt Inferencing docker images consisting of machine learning frameworks and some commonly used Python packages.

🔸 Azure SQL bindings for Azure Functions are now in public preview and are available from NuGet as Microsoft.Azure.WebJobs.Extensions.Sql.

Azure Functions can now interact with SQL databases through input and output bindings for Azure SQL.

With Azure SQL bindings, data can be input from a database to the function with an input binding and data can be output from the function to the database.

Week 22-28/11

🔸 IoT Central Analytics charts are improved.

This IoT Central update adds the ability to group by “Device Name” so that Analytics charts are easier to read and understand.

🔸 We have Azure IoT Central REST API new and updated endpoints in public preview.

With the latest release of the 1.1-preview endpoint, developers can now build a variety of companion experiences that enable programmatic use of IoT Central capabilities.

In this release, there is support for:

  • IoT Central query
  • Continuous data export
  • device template patch
  • IoT Edge device template authoring with IoT Edge manifest
  • IoT Edge device relationship management
  • Open Data filters for devices and device templates

🔸 General availability for custom OpenID providers in App Service and Azure Functions.

Apps can be configured with any OpenID provider as a custom identity provider for the App Service Authentication feature.

Week 29-30/11

🔸 The Christmas season is almost here as well as the last news for this month! 🎄

You can now secure Data Egress via Managed Identity in Azure IoT Central.

This update adds support for System Assigned Managed Identity in IoT Central, allowing developers to seamlessly configure their data export destinations.

Azure Managed Identity eliminates completely the need to manage credentials and connection strings for your data export destinations within your IoT Central application.

Moreover, it provides you with a secure identity that can be used to connect with other Azure resources that support Azure Active Directory authentication.

🔸 Data transformation at Export in Azure IoT Central is now in general availability.

Transforms in Azure IoT Central data export enable you to:

  • manipulate the device data including the data format prior to exporting the data to a destination
  • bring your device data to your business applications without any processing steps in between
  • add a transformation query to your data export destination
